Gregory "Greg" Seymour Obituary
Gregory “Greg” Seymour, 78, a lifetime resident of Ottawa, Kansas died Monday, June 16, 2025 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Lawrence, Kansas.
He was born January 12, 1947 in Ottawa, Kansas the son of Quincy and Maxine (Bell) Seymour. He graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1965.
From 1967 to 1970, Greg served in the United States Air Force earning the rank of Staff Sergeant. During his service Greg was stationed in Great Falls, MT. He had fond memories of his time there, and always held a deep respect for the military and those who served.
In 1966 Greg was united in marriage to Julie Capron, they later divorced. On July 31, 1981, Greg was united in marriage to Diane Munro. They shared nearly 45 years of loving marriage.
For 52 years, Greg worked as an insurance agent for State Farm Insurance, Ottawa, KS. He was a member of the K.C. Blues Society and was a very active member of the Abdallah Shrine in Kansas City, the Elks Lodge, and the Ottawa Chamber of Commerce.
Greg enjoyed long road trips, especially riding his motorcycle on trips to Arkansas. He adored visiting with people and being with his family. He rarely missed an opportunity to make a new friend and loved to converse with anyone at any time. Greg was a passionate lover of blues music, creased Levi jeans and finding a great bargain. His kindness and generosity were legendary.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Quincy and Maxine Seymour; a daughter, Melissa Seymour; brothers, Dan and Quin Seymour; and a son, Troy Lewis.
He is survived by his wife, Diane Seymour of the home; a son, Chad Seymour and his wife, Linda Price, of Los Angeles, CA; two daughters, Dee Shaffer of Kansas City, Missouri and Sasha St. John of Ottawa, KS; thirteen grandchildren, Kaden Shaffer, Kaleb Shaffer, Kamryn Yezek, Kristen Lantz, Drue St. John, Eden Callanan, Kaitlyn Seymour, Freddie Sue Seymour; Shelby Lockhouse, Laken Lewis, Leni Lewis, Landen Lewis and five great grandchildren with one on the way.
Funeral Services will be 1:00 p.m., Monday, June 23, 2025 at First United Methodist Church, Ottawa, KS. To celebrate Greg’s life, a visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Sunday, June 22, 2025 at Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, 325 S. Hickory St, Ottawa, KS 66067.
