Obituary for Patrick Haas 

                                                                                            

George Patrick “Pat” Haas, age 72, of Ottawa, KS, passed away June 16, 2019, at Advent Health of Ottawa. He was born February 19, 1947 in Ottawa, KS, the son of George Crosby Haas and Ida Myrtle (Diamond) Haas. Pat was a lifelong Franklin County resident residing in Ottawa most of his life. He graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1965. Pat worked at the Water and Sewer Department for the City of Ottawa from 1994 to 2009. He retired as Assistant Superintendent. After his retirement in 2009 he worked part time for the city maintaining Main Street and the Rails to Trails. Pat also owned and operated Haas Plumbing for 25 years prior to his work for the city. In the 1970’s he managed a service station in town as well as worked for Jackson’s Ice Cream and Schwan’s in the late 1970’s.  He was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks Lodge #803, Ottawa as well as a former founding member of the Over the Road Gang car club.  Pat's favorite past time was trout fishing at Lake Tanneycomo in Branson, MO. He spent many vacations there fishing with his wife, children, and grandchildren. While he loved to catch fish himself, nothing made him happier than helping one of his grandkids catch one. In recent years he loved to go deer hunting in Arkansas with his son and grandsons. He always looked forward to playing poker and spending time at the Elks with his friends. He was also a very talented woodworker, something he learned from his father. Many of the pieces of furniture in his family’s houses were either repaired, refinished or constructed by Pat. He loved to travel with his wife, Sharon. Florida was one of his favorite getaways. He was a big fan of the beach and he was always excited to get on a jet ski once he was there. Most important to Pat was his family especially his grandchildren who he loved to spend time with and was so proud of. 
On June 19, 1966, Pat was united in marriage to Sharon E Brown in Princeton, KS. They shared fifty-three years of loving marriage together.  He is survived by his wife, Sharon Haas, Ottawa; son, Travis W Haas, Bryant, AR; daughter, Megan Morris and her husband, Doug, Ottawa, KS; sister, Donna Cook, Lawrence, KS; brother, David Haas and his wife, Cathy, Richmond, KS; mother-in-law, Maxine Brown, Ottawa, KS; two grandsons, Gavin Haas and Dane Haas both of Bryant, AR; two granddaughters, Quinncy Morris and Maleah Morris both of Ottawa, KS, and a step granddaughter, Randi Shaw, Overland Park, KS.Pat is preceded in death by his parents, George Haas and Myrtle Haas.

Memorial funeral services will be 10:00a.m., Friday, June 21, 2019 at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, Ottawa. The family will meet with friends for a visitation from 6:00p.m. - 8:00p.m., Thursday, June 20, 2019 at the funeral home.
