Janis Elaine Berry Obituary

Mrs. Janis Elaine Berry, 77, Jefferson City, passed away Sunday, March 30, 2025 peacefully surrounded by family. She was born April 28, 1947 in Ottawa, KS., a daughter of the late Roy Detwiler and Edna (Johnsen) Cowdin. Janis was united in marriage on December 25, 1994 in Las Vegas to Larry J. Berry, who preceded her in death on Wednesday, July 29, 2020.

She retired from the Missouri Dept. of Social Services. Janis was known as the life of the party. She enjoyed fishing, gardening and working in her yard, going to car shows with Larry, and above all she cherished time spent with her family at Holiday's and having fish fry's. She always was ready with a good story to make you laugh.

She is survived by her children: Sannon (Joyce) Henry of Ottawa, KS., Shelley (Lynny) Hughey of Jefferson City; grandchildren: Elaina Henry, Allecia Henry, Lindsey Henry, Haley Hughey; four great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband: Larry; parents: Roy and Edna; she was preceded in death by her siblings: Linda Showalter, Jamie Detwiler, Leroy Detwiler.
