James Bristow

  James Orren Bristow, 63, Ottawa, died Monday, Sept. 5, 2011, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Kansas City, Mo.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, 2011, at North Baptist Church, Ottawa. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery.
 
He was born Oct. 12, 1946, to Galen and Wilma (Hough) Bristow in Ottawa.
 
He was a lifelong Ottawa resident, graduating from Ottawa High School with the class of 1965. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Baker University and his master’s degree in microbiology from Iowa State University.
 
He was a microbiologist for Jensen-Salsbury Laboratories in Kansas City after graduating from college. He then began a career as a milk hauler for Mid-American Dairymen, retiring in 1991.
 
He was a member of the North Baptist Church of Ottawa.
 
He married Peggy Yokum in Baldwin City. They later divorced. He married Laura Jean Marino July 11, 1992. They enjoyed five years together until her death June 24, 1997.
 
Survivors include his father, Galen Bristow, Ottawa; sons, James Galen Bristow, Olathe, and Aaron Michael Bristow, Tulsa, Okla.; a brother, John Michael Bristow, Harrisonville, Mo.; and a sister, Linda Sue Elder, Ottawa.
 
He was preceded in death by his mother, and a brother, Joe Bristow.
 
Family will meet with friends 9 a.m. to the service hour Saturday at the church.
