Robert John Snodgrass, 24, who was stationed at the US Naval Security Activity Section, Edzell, Scotland, was killed Sunday in an automobile accident at Dundee, Scotland.  The son of Robert Warren and Katharine Nadine (Okerberg) Snodgrass of Ottawa RFD 3, Snodgrass was a petty officer second class in the US Navy.  He was born July 7, 1946, at Ottawa and graduated from Ottawa High School in 1965. 

Snodgrass joined the Navy January 20, 1966, and was sent to Vietnam on May 18 of that year stationed aboard the USS Whiteriver.  He spent two years aboard the ship, returned to California and then went back to Vietnam and was stationed at DaNang and Saigon where he taught English to the Vietnamese.  In Oct. 1970 he re-enlisted for six years and was sent to Scotland in December,  Medals awarded to Snodgrass during his military career included the Navy Unit Commendation, the Vietnam Service Medal, the National Service Medal, the National Defense Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. 

Surviving, in addition to his parents, are a brother, Randall Warren Snodgrass, of the home, and his grandmother, Mrs. John Okerberg, 1036 N. Main.  Service arrangements are incomplete and will be announced at a later date by the Damron Towner Chapel.
