Mike Patrick

Michael Leroy Patrick, 72, of Lawrence, Kansas passed away Saturday, October 5, 2019 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M., Thursday, October 10, 2019 at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa. The family will meet with friends 6:00 to 7:30 P.M., Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at the mortuary. Interment Appanoose Cemetery, Douglas County. Michel was born July 28, 1947 in Ottawa, Kansas, the son of Leroy and Meriel (Heckman) Patrick. He lived in Ottawa most of his life moving to Lawrence in 1996. Michel graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1965. He was united in marriage to Janis White July 2, 1976 in Ottawa. She preceded him in death on April 5, 1993. He was later united in marriage to Pamela Cooper May 25, 1996 in Lawrence, Kansas. She survives of the home. Other survivors include three children, Jimmy Patrick and wife Shannon of Ottawa, Kellie Rossenrode and husband Roy and Jeffrey Cooper all of Lawrence; sister, Jo Ann Barrier and husband Tony of Kannapolis, North Carolina; brother, George Patrick and wife Laure of Rantoul; three grandchildren, Nathan Patrick, Heather Heine and Zoe Patrick all of Ottawa; and many nieces and nephews. Michel was preceded in death by his parents, Leroy and Merial Patrick and daughter, Megan Patrick. He served as a military fireman in the United States Air Force from 1965 to 1969. When returning from military service Michel worked for H.D. Lee until the early 1980s. He then worked for the Ottawa Herald Newspaper as a pressman until the early 2000s. Michel enjoyed his pet dogs, woodworking, fruit gardening, grilling on his Big Green Egg, metal detecting, fishing, hunting and whip cream with pumpkin pie. He especially loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. The family suggests memorial contributions to Lawrence Humane Society or Franklin County Cancer Foundation.
