Obituary

Karen “Sue” Farrell, 73, of Ottawa, passed away, Monday, June 14, 2021 at AdventHealth Ottawa, Ottawa, Kansas. Funeral Services were held at 12:00 P.M., Saturday, June 19, 2021 at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa. Family met with friends immediately following the service. Inurnment was held later at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Miami County. Sue was born May 9, 1948, at Rantoul, Kansas, the daughter of Bob and Betty (Keller) Redick. She was a lifelong Ottawa resident. Sue earned her GED and attended college. Sue was united in marriage to Douglas Dale Farrell, Sr. May 9 ,1964 in Stillwell, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on October 15, 2019. She was a bookkeeper for Bones Transportation/T-BonesTrucking for many years. Sue also served as a Franklin County Commissioner in the late 2000’s. Sue had a passion for animals. She fostered dogs and was an active volunteer at Prairie Paws Animal Shelter. Sue loved to sew, crochet and watch old time movies. She also enjoyed listening to music and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Farrell, Sr., parents, Bob and Betty Redick, brothers, Bobby Redick, Jonny Redick and infant brother, Gary Creviston. Survivors include her sons, Douglas Farrell, Jr. (Angela) of Pomona and Donald Farrell (Victoria) of Ottawa; sister, Cheryl Bishop (Bobby) of Ottawa, stepsisters, Patty Winters (Tim) of Ottawa, Theresa Brown (Joe) and Linda Horne (Doug) both of Pomona; eleven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
